I want to talk LB for a moment----I have a realize C with 11cc's capacity--- I was just banded 3/15/10 and my Dr. chose not to give me any fill for 6 weeks. Did anyone else have to wait?
What do you think would be the maximum amount of ounces I should consume at 1 time? I am afraid to go over 8 or 900 calories a day---but it would be real easy to.

I also have an 11 cc band. I won't get a fill until the 6 week mark either. They say not to expect much weight loss until you get to the fills. He did say that I have 4 cc's in there from the surgery but that won't make a big difference. He's only going to add 1 cc at a time. Do you have any restriction right now? I know I can't eat how I used to!

I really try to stick to 1 to 1-1/2 cups of solids at each meal (that is what my instructions said). It is supposed to keep you full for about 4-5 hours. You can drink whatever you like in between, but I stick to water. OK, I admit a little ice cream has snuck in too. Any liquids, slider foods (yogourt, pudding) will slide right through the band. I work hard to get in enough protein, especially at breakfast. I don't find the protein shakes keep me full for very long. I started to get really hungry at week 4.

I had 3 cc in my 10 cc band at surgery. Had a fill then an unfill so can't say what is in the band. I wish I had waited until Week 6 to have the fill (instead of week 4) as I had problems. But now I am hungry again and am starting to snack and eat junk. I get a fill next Wednesday (8 weeks postop) so hope that helps me eat less. There are others who have had multiple fills. I think it is very individual when one reaches that magic sweet spot--being able to eat without being hungry and also losing weight. Hope this helped.

I had no fill at surgery and waited 6 weeks for the first fill and it gave me no restriction. The 6 week healing period is when it's most important not to overeat as complications are most easy to happen now...I kept it to about 1C per meal (now I do 1-1.5C). It's actually better to eat more small meals than 3 huge ones during this period. It's Bandster Hell and it's all up to you until the restriction starts to help. I ate 1000-1200 cals a day easily during this period and still lost some weight. Be careful you don't go too low as you'll be in starvation mode and stop losing.

Hey there! I was just banded on the 29th (Monday) and my surgeon doesn't do the first fill until 6 weeks out either. They told me to stick to 1/2 cup every 2-3 hrs.

Hello, I was banded on the 25th and I have to wait 6 weeks for a fill, I think that its fairly standard to be honest.

Hi hon, I found your blog through Debi. I'm still waiting to be banded but I'll have the realize band as well and my doc doesn't do any kind of fill until 6 weeks post op too.
